EPA has updated its webpage monitoring potential supply chain disruptions following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland last month. Utilites are encouraged to review their supply chain dependencies and plan for any potential disruptions to help enhance their operational resilience.

As the spring season sets in, the potential for extreme weather events like thunderstorms, tornadoes, and floods to occur becomes increasingly likely. Accordingly, WaterISAC is sharing several resources to help utilities prepare for and increase their resilience to spring weather hazards.
As part of Emergency Communications Month, WaterISAC is sharing a CISA “Emergency Communications and Extreme Weather Factsheet,” to help water and wastewater utilites enhance their communication resilience and prepare for potential outages during extreme weather events.

Last week, NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) launched a new website: The National Water Prediction Service. This new hub for water data, resources, and services combines local and regional forecasts with water data and new national level capabilities, such as flood inundation maps and the National Water Model, providing emergency planners and water managers with enhanced data on water scarcity, floods, and other water hazards.
Today, Colorado State University’s (CSU’s) Tropical Meteorology Project released its “Extended Range Forecast of Atlantic Seasonal Hurricane Activity and Landfall Strike Probability for 2024.” The researchers anticipate well above-average activity for the upcoming season, which runs from June 1 to November 30.
