WaterISAC and EPA just published the latest quarterly edition of the National Security Information Sharing Bulletin. The Information Sharing Bulletin (ISB) is intended for water and wastewater utility owners and operators to provide information on priority security and resilience topics, including cybersecurity, physical security, and natural disasters.
The ISB is designed to increase awareness of these priorities and promote a security mindset across all utility staff and the water and wastewater sector to better prepare for and respond to ever-increasing threats. The introduction to this latest issue emphasizes that as threats to critical infrastructure continue to rise and with cyber actors showing an increased interest in operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS), it is now more important than ever for all of us to develop a security mindset and do our part to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure. We all play a role in supporting national security, whether we realize it or not.
The EPA Office of National Security (ONS) and the WaterISAC, together with support from the EPA Office of Water and the Water Sector Coordinating Council and Government Coordinating Council (WSCC), have initiated this effort to raise awareness on current threats and emerging issues. Our goal is to inform and drive efforts to enhance preparedness and resilience within the water and wastewater sector and across the 16 domestic critical infrastructure sectors in the U.S. Please feel encouraged to share feedback on all aspects of this product to [email protected]. This way, we can work to make future editions helpful and actionable.
