A recent report from Cybersecurity firm KnowBe4 indicates the effectiveness of security awareness training (SAT) on overall organizational security. The report, titled “Effective Security Awareness Training Really Does Reduce Breaches,” notes that organizations who implement effective SAT programs are 8.3 times less likely to appear on public data breach lists annually compared to general statistics.
It’s important for utilities to assess how often they should conduct training, balanced by the amount of resources they have available. While this analysis shows how an effective SAT program truly leads to fewer compromises, the frequency of trainings is important to note. When implementing SAT programs, KnowBe4 suggests organizations conduct training at least quarterly noting that more frequent engagement leads to higher levels of risk mitigation.
