The EPA Water Security Division has released its Earthquake Interactive Maps, the final component of a set of earthquake preparedness resources for water utilities. The tool highlights earthquake and liquefaction risks throughout the U.S. and also describes utilities’ experiences with earthquake mitigation. The EPA had previously released Earthquake Resilience Guide for Water and Wastewater Utilities, an interactive document that explains earthquake threats to utilities in the United States and helps them utilities identify their vulnerabilities, and a corresponding video, Surviving the Quake. The latter is designed to illustrate the threat and consequences of earthquakes to small and medium water utilities. EPA.
