The deadline to apply for FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants is next week, on February 29. FEMA’s grants provide funding to assist state, local, tribal, and territorial governments with reducing disaster damages and enhancing resilience during future disasters.

For the 2023 fiscal year, FEMA has funding opportunities available through two Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant programs. First, $800 million is available for the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant program. Second, $1 billion is available to the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant program. FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance website includes tips, guidance, and resources for each stage of the grant application process. FEMA has also created case studies about how its funds are being used by communities across the country to become more resilient to disasters. As noted above, the deadline to apply for the FMA and BRIC grants is next Thursday, February 29. Lastly, FEMA conducted a series of webinars about hazard mitigation assistance grants, the recordings can be accessed here. Read more about the funding opportunities at FEMA.
