The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published Soft Targets and Crowded Places Security Plan Overview, which is meant to provide members of the public and the private sector with an overview of how DHS is coordinating its mission to enhance the security and resilience of some of the most vulnerable spaces in society. This document underscores that protecting soft targets and crowded spaces is a shared mission among many stakeholders, including the owners and operators of these places, and it provides an overview of the role of these partners in achieving security goals. This document is companion to DHS’s Security of Soft Targets and Crowded Places – Resource Guide, which was released in early May to provide partners with a catalog of resources to assist them with improving the security and resilience of these places.
