The US Water Alliance’s just published Water Rising: Equitable Approaches to Urban Flooding report highlights priority actions water utilities can take in collaboration with city agencies and communities to advance equitable flood management across the nation. The report emphasizes the need for better coordinated efforts to ensure that all communities are resilient given that floods affect low-income and minority populations first, hardest, and more often. The actions it recommends draw on the ongoing efforts of nine cities that are developing flooding solutions to address these inequities. The efforts are described in case examples included throughout the report, providing water utilities and their partners with insights and potentially ideas for how similar solutions could be applied in their communities. Read more about the report in a blog at the US Water Alliance.
