SANS Institute Becomes the First Platinum WaterISAC Champion
WaterISAC Champions enhance water and wastewater sector security

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 15 — WaterISAC welcomes the SANS Institute as its first platinum WaterISAC Champion. The SANS Institute is the largest global provider of cybersecurity training, certifications, and research. Renowned faculty teach more than 60 courses in person and online while GIAC, an affiliate of the SANS Institute, validates practitioner skills through more than 35 hands-on technical certifications. SANS delivers a wide variety of resources to the InfoSec community, including research reports, webcasts, and the Internet's early warning system–the Internet Storm Center.

WaterISAC kicked off the Champion program in 2022 and is looking forward to the expansion of the program with new Champions like the SANS Institute. “As the first Platinum Champion, the SANS Institute will greatly increase WaterISAC’s educational offerings through informational resources, training, events and a virtual cybersecurity forum open to all WaterISAC members,” says WaterISAC Executive Director, Tom Dobbins. “Expanding our resources and benefits for our members through this program will continue to make us - Stronger Together.”

“Now, more than ever, we must come together to protect our critical infrastructure” said Eric Bassel, CEO of The SANS Institute.  “Our communities depend on the safe operations of water and wastewater management. SANS partnership with WaterISAC will enable utility providers to get hands-on training to defend against cyber threats.”

The SANS Institute brings world-class cybersecurity expertise to the water and wastewater sector. In addition to real-time technical insights, the partnership gives WaterISAC’s members and partners access to SANS catalogue of training courses, GIAC certifications, Netwars ranges, critical content and events.
