EPA recently published a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Resources for Drinking Water webpage, which highlights resources designed to help states and water systems with the implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) that was enacted late last year.
The webpage includes a “Water Security and Climate Resiliency Resources” section, which contains links to EPA programs, guides, and tools like Creating Resilient Water Utilities and Water Supply Chain Resilience. The resources provided via these and other links can be used by water systems to inform where they could apply the support made available through the BIL. Beneath these readers can click on a final link and read more about the BIL and access other EPA resources. These include resources for the various phases of emergency management. Signed into law in November 2021, the BIL provides $43 billion in water infrastructure funding through the Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds (SRFs). In addition to emphasizing equity, PFAS and emerging contaminants, and other priorities, EPA has highlighted the importance of utility resilience in its strategy for the use of the BIL.
