In a blog post, risk management firm Gate 15 discusses the long-term implications of the recent bombing in Nashville on the terrorism and security landscape. Telecommunications, air travel, credit card machines, and emergency services all were affected as a result of the bomb detonating right outside a major AT&T telecommunication hub. Without any need for expert hacking, the bomber disable communication in 49 counties at the press of a button, creating a dangerous example for other threat actors who might wish to do the same in the future. In a potential, future incident, a bombing could merely be the opening of a more complex attack.
