The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has just launched a #Protect2020 Rumor vs. Reality webpage, in which it addresses some common disinformation and misinformation rumors that can undermine public confidence in the electoral process. The webpage lists the disinformation or misinformation rumors, provides factual information to counteract this information, and offers resources to support these facts. It also contains a short video with comments by CISA Director Chris Krebs, who notes that disinformation and misinformation regarding the election may occur not only before and during the election, but also following it. “In fact, the days and weeks just before and after election day are the perfect time for our adversaries to launch efforts intended to undermine your confidence in the integrity of the electoral process,” Krebs stated.
