In recent years, the threat to critical infrastructure from drones, or unmanned aerial systems, has significantly increased. Given the widespread commercial availability of these devices and their successful employment in conflicts around the world, both state and non-state actors are increasingly utilizing these systems to conduct malicious activities.
To help us better understand this emerging threat and how to mitigate the dangers associated with it, WaterISAC is excited to host two expert speakers. First, Travis Moran, a Senior Reliability and Security Advisor at the SERC Reliability Corporation, will provide an overview of the current drone threat in the U.S., detail recent drone incidents involving critical infrastructure, and highlight current legal challenges that are impeding local mitigation efforts.
Following that, Dave Cole, Security Team Manager at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, will discuss the drone activity that his utility has experienced as well as detail mitigation measures that his team is working to implement against the threat. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about this emerging threat and how your utility can defend against it.
