However, the advent of the digital age and social media has made getting reliable information out to the public in a timely manner challenging, as false rumors typically spread faster than truth. In addition, documenting crisis communication plans and engaging with the community before a disaster can reduce impacts to infrastructure services in the event of a disaster.
