Water Sector Cyber Resilience Briefing - The Most Likely Cyber Threats to Water and Wastewater Utilities Over the Next Year

Wednesday, July 24, 2024; 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. ET

Private and public water and wastewater systems of all sizes are facing increasing cyber threats. In the past few months there has been a steady stream of disclosed incidents perpetrated by a variety of threat actor types with differing motivations. Additionally, with the attention (rightfully so) being placed on the sector from the White House, EPA, Congress, etc., it’s necessary for asset owners to understand the threats we face and how to address them.

With many public water and wastewater utilities being government-operated, in addition to WaterISAC membership, they fall under the purview of the MS-ISAC (Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center). So, water and wastewater utilities have not just one, but the insights and efforts of two ISAC’s watching their backs! As such, WaterISAC felt it was important to contribute to a comprehensive white paper published this year by the MS-ISAC and the Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS®) Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) team on Public Water and Wastewater Sector and SLTTs Facing Mounting Cyber Threat from Foreign Adversaries.

Join us on July 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM ET for our monthly Cyber Resilience Briefing when MS-ISAC’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, Jesse Adam will discuss how and why U.S. State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) government-operated U.S. water and wastewater systems (WWS) will likely continue to face a mounting threat from cyber threat actors over the next year. This month’s briefing is open to member of both WaterISAC and MS-ISAC.
