Join WaterISAC on November 17 as it continues a special series of briefings focused on its 15 Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Water and Wastewater Utilities. During this briefing, WaterISAC Advisor Andrew Hildick-Smith will discuss three additional Fundamentals, specifically:
#5 – Safeguard from Unauthorized Physical Access
#6 – Install Independent Cyber-Physical Safety Systems
#11 – Plan for Incidents, Emergencies, and Disasters
Andrew will discuss and provide personal perspectives on these fundamentals, leveraging his years of experience securing utility digital networks. Among his experiences, Andrew worked at a large water and wastewater utility for 30 years, where among other things, he was responsible for the operation, maintenance, and security of the SCADA system. For a number of years, he was also responsible for emergency preparedness and physical security. During that time, he collaborated regularly with WaterISAC, which included helping to write the 15 Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Water and Wastewater Utilities.
Since retiring from the utility last year, Andrew has continued to dedicate himself to improving the security of the water and wastewater sector, founding his own company (OT Sec, LLC), working with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to promote cybersecurity at utilities, and joining WaterISAC as an Advisor. Don’t miss this opportunity to obtain invaluable insights from an industry veteran about preventing and mitigating the effects of cyber incidents at your utility.
This and other briefings in this series on the 15 Cybersecurity Fundamentals will be held during the times for WaterISAC's Water Sector Cyber Threat Web Briefings, normally scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of most months.
